Practically Perfect

This moment, right here, was practically perfect in every way:

Wild Bluebells

Bluebells
Ne'er have I seen such beauty
Field of bluebells ‘neath golden sun
Interspersed with tree-trunk pillars
Lovely forest, woodland spun.

Bluebells
Exquisite and breathtaking beauty
Unsullied by the hands of man
Simply there for the heart's enjoyment
According to nature's best-laid plan.

Bluebells
Splendid and arresting beauty
Awesome scene of sheer delight
Bold images of wild bluebells
Touched by rays of golden sunlight.

And frosts are slain and flowers begotten..

"And frosts are slain and flowers begotten,
And in green underwood and cover
Blossom by blossom the spring begins."
Algernon Charles Swinburne  (1837–1909)
Atalanta in Calydon (1865)

My favourite is the White Blossom. It looks to me as though it is falling from the sky onto the tree.

A Parched Summer's Day in the Middle of Spring...

On Wednesday 15th April, 2015 the temperature here reached about 25°, which is high in England's Summer let alone Spring! With little rain this month, the ground was dry and parched:

A heart made from two horseshoes...
(This horseshoe photo was actually taken a few days later but matched the theme, so I sneaked it in!)

A Wooden Heart
Elvis Presley sang that he didn't have a wooden heart.. Perhaps he could have had this one...

A Boy and his Shadow

A perfect story to go with the last picture is http://www.stuartstories.com/stories/boyandshadow.html. Enjoy!

Sunset Through the Bedroom Window IV

Snow February, 2015

I can't believe I didn't post these pictures of the snow in February, 2015. It lasted less than a day but was beautiful while it lasted.

Larry of course has to make an appearance in this last one. He's becoming quite famous!

A Sea of Flowers

These have the most unfortunate name... and smell. I learned too late that if you let your dogs run through them they get sticky and stink to high heaven! But a field of rapeseed flowers does look pretty impressive..

Rapeseed field
Larry getting some more photo action
This is the last time the dogs will be off the lead through this field for a while!

Eleven days later the rapeseed is nearly as tall as me and this is my view to the left as I walk through the field:

Bluebells... Four Days Later in the Woods

The budding bluebell photo in the last post was taken on 14th April, 2015. There were a few buds scattered here and there in the Bluebell Woods. Four days later the Bluebell Woods look more like this:

Bluebell Woods

Nature can be an amazing and beautiful force. This is just the beginning too. In the not too distant future this will be a sea of bluebells!

I just have to add this photo too. Larry and bluebells, two of my favourite things:

Larry and Bluebells

Bluebells are coming...

Bluebells

"There is a silent eloquence
In every wild bluebell
That fills my softened heart with bliss
That words could never tell."

Star Light, Star Bright

Star light, star bright,
The first star I see tonight;
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have the wish I wish tonight.

On nights like this, 13th April 2015, I wish I had a proper camera and not just my phone. This star was HUGE. It was twinkling and had points as if a child had drawn it. The photo is ok in it's own right I suppose but if it had captured the star as I saw it, it would have been the photo of the year!
